Closing Shift Roblox Beginner Guide: First Minutes and Escape Start

Last updated:

A beginner guide to your first Closing Shift run: the opening sequence, the Puppet's help menu, cameras, the B-2 hatch, and how the four-key escape begins.

Your first few minutes in Closing Shift have one job: get you from the street into the restaurant, introduce the Puppet's help system and the cameras, and open the hatch into the main building where the real escape begins. Here is exactly what happens and what to do.

Quick answer

Closing Shift is a Roblox horror experience by DoggyTroug. When you enter, the elevator seals shut behind you and you are left in a family restaurant that closed in 1974 — where the mascots never stopped working. Your escape goal is to find four keys and the four-digit code, then call the elevator back. In the first minutes, follow the opening sequence, open the gift box to meet the Puppet, check the camera terminal, and crank open SERVICE HATCH B-2 to step into the restaurant. Play with headphones so you can hear what is moving around you.

Before you step in

  • Put on headphones. The first-run checklist is explicit about this: you want to hear the restaurant while you play. Sound is one of your warning systems — most importantly, if you hear singing, do not leave the room.
  • Know who hunts you. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Golden Freddy and Fredbear each move by their own rules. One early rule worth remembering: keep the light on Foxy's face.
  • Pick your party. You can play solo or with up to 9 friends. Voice chat is optional but relevant — the animatronics listen, and saying the right thing may let you go. If you are new, a solo first run is a calm way to learn the layout before adding voice-chat conversations to the mix.

The opening sequence, step by step

In-game opening of a Closing Shift run: officer Bill hurries out of the elevator as the doors close and the HUD reads KEYS 0/4.
  1. Talk to officer Bill at the front.
  2. Walk to the outdoor elevator and step inside. It descends from L to B-2.
  3. Exit into a security/safe room as the doors close behind you. This small room is your base for the first stretch of the run.

Once you are in the safe room, do these three things before moving on:

  • Open the gift box. The Puppet appears and offers a Q&A help menu — this is the same Puppet the official tip points to when it says to ask the Puppet at the security desk for help. It is your in-game source for guidance, so use it when you are unsure what to do next.
  • Use the security terminal. You can switch between camera feeds and watch what is moving through the restaurant. Getting comfortable with these feeds now pays off later, when you are tracking animatronics instead of learning the interface.
  • Crank open SERVICE HATCH B-2. Hold E on the crank until the HATCH SEALER progress reaches 100%. The hatch opens onto stairs leading up into the restaurant corridor.

What you are actually doing down there

Once the hatch opens, the on-screen objective updates: find 4 keys and the 4-digit code. That is the whole shape of the escape. As the run goes on, the HUD tracks how many of the four keys you are holding, and paper notes scattered around record the code digits. After all four keys are found, the objective changes to finding the rest of the code. The elevator is called with a keypad — enter the correct four-digit code and the call button goes live.

So the first minutes are preparation, and everything after them is collection: keys, digits, and a careful walk back to that elevator.

Surviving once you are upstairs

The restaurant above the hatch is where the animatronics operate. You have three practical tools when one comes at you: hide in closets, crawl through vents, or barricade doors to slow them down. Be aware that barricades are a delay, not a lock — the animatronics can kick barricaded doors in, so treat a barricade as time to reposition, not a safe room.

Keep your headphones on and listen. Singing means stay put, and Foxy wants the light kept on his face. Beyond tonight's run, the game advertises a different night every day, plus daily rewards, levels and badges — so your first escape attempt is also the start of the progression loop.
